flywheel oil seal.. which one?

  1. eyup, gunna change my flywheel oil seal, as my engine is out seems daft not to..

    but theres several different ones for sale, which ones are the best please?

  7. okay thanks man, quite surprised main dealers still stock the parts for something so old!
    i will look into it :) im sure there will be someone around here that will know the part number.

    I just changed mine for 3rd time using black rubber original ones each of which leaked.
    I was provided with a silicone one fitted 2mm below flush with the surface when I had it changed by an aircooled specialist.

    Justification - rubber ones get chewed up fitting them, silicone works better as used in modern cars. VW wod have fitted silicone if it was available originally.
