Flywheel fettling

  1. The flywheel I am about to refit is very shiny on the clutch surface. I know it would benefit from a rough up so will scotch bright it attached to the lathe.
While it is on the lathe is there anything else I can safely do to improve a standard flywheel.

It will end up shiny again.
Check it for run out provided you are sure the whole thing is true. And then if you do decide to re-face it remember to take the same off the outer ring where the clutch plate goes or it will reduce the clutch pressure in future.
All I did/could do with my last eBay flywheel purchase was a quick random scrub up of the surface with 240 grade abrasive paper, to get rid of surface rust and then cleaned out all the holes where the dust goes, and washed off with clutch cleaner.
Then I drove it . Maybe a little juddering at first and now it is good.
