Flooding carb

  1. Does anyone know if it is possible to get hold of a new float for a Solex 32/34 PDSIT - 2 carb?
Parked on a slight slope, full tank, electric fuel pump and later discovered that petrol was siphoning through the carb. It flooded the entire engine before I discovered it.
On stripping the carb I found that the float was heavy with petrol and when gently squeezed leaked along the seam.
It's one of two carbs on a twin carb 1800, 1975.
Also, I've drained the oil (petrol mix) and am letting everything dry out. Is there likely to be any lasting damage. It's a rolling resto so all work is being considered.
Won't be at VanFest in the van as planned but might be needing to visit for some bits!

    Thanks,

  2. personally i would squirt a bit of oil down the spark plug holes and turn the engine over for a minute or so with new oil and coiul to dizzy wire off so it doesn`t fire just to work some oil round the bearings .

    could try eurocarb or ebay

  3. Yes, good idea, it's had a pretty good wash out I think.
