Fixing HEs with JB Weld?

Anyone used JB Weld to plug smallish gaps and holes in their HEs?

If so,

did it work;

are there any tricks to get it to stick;

did it stay on ?

 

Can't see any reason why it shouldn't work. Prob better to make up some small plates and JB weld them on after a good degreasing.
