Nothing wrong with the new 1/4 available and they are pretty straightforward to fit, no distortion minimal filler if any, win win. Fibreglass is the preferred filler to cover the weld as its non porous, with a skim of filler to make it smooth. I have removed rear 1/4s to weld arches in and it didn't save much distortion, I would go for a new full 1/4 if money was not an issue.

David, I couldnt argue with the straightness of that rear quarter repair, it certainly looks to be pretty free of distortion. Look like a joggled edge might be on the cards looks like the route of least resistance. making sure the back is well sealed to prevent moisture creeping in...

will order up 2 rear quarter repairs just in case ... LOL...

I couldnt find new rear quarters for rhd vans ?

The prototype bay arches are nicer than the flared late models.

You can't get RHD 1/4s you need to tickle LHD ones to fit, the rear arch I fitted wasn't to bad but had already had an arch on previously so is more distorted than I would have liked. But it's the best of a bunch of imperfect solutions.

  7. If i was doing restos professionally on a continous basis i would joggle than van and plug weld the repair on

Rough the surface of the ajoining panels and use a zinc rich weld through primer on them
After plug welding id clean up and etch prime where i could get to on the rear of the panel then use a polyurethane seam sealer and the cavity wax would have to take care of the areas you cant reach

The outside would be a quick skim of chopped strand fiberglass then take the tops off that and key with 80 grit and polysester filler other the top of that

Its not hot rod build off or custom chopper standards but then bus owners in britain havent got the money or wont pay for that standard of workmanship

You show me someone willing to pay me a livable wage restoring classics to a level of detail thats obsessive ocd and they have found themselves an employee lol

Putting a whole panel on would probably work out quicker and easier in the long run but you try getting a customer to understand that
when you tell them how much a whole quater costs
