fitting heater flaps engine in or out

    my type 4 engine is without cooling flaps and rod , i now have all the components including the thermostat but i want to know if it is possible to fit the flaps and bar with engine in situ . one for Paul here i think , or anybody who has managed it or not , thanks in advance .

    yes i did it in, bit of a faff but doable
     
  3. Yep I did it engine insitu just had to remove a fair few pieces of tin.
     
  4. I reckon it is easily do able. I had to get the fan shroud off after I put the engine back in last year because some numpty ( ie me) forgot to put back the tin that goes over the oil cooler. A few hours work to do I reckon.
