Fitting door cards

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by volkswombat, Apr 30, 2015.

  1. When you fit door cards you have the little clips that push through the card and into the bung in the door, are clips supposed to be invisible?

so if you buy a pre upholstered door card are the clips already in the door card hidden under the vinyl so that when the card is fitted the clips are invisible?

or do the clips go through the vinyl too, so they are visible when fitted?

On most the card is a a sort of compressed card and covered in vinyl - with holes in the hard board.

You fold the clip into the non vinyl side - made sure you get the correct size clips and bungs as the wrong ones are a pig to work with.

When fitting the clips it helps to imagine that they hook onto the card so as to pull that part away from the centre. If you arrange the clips like this they'll be within a mm or two of correct position.

I re fitted one today, even if the clips don't line up you can poke them into place with a screwdriver before giving them a bash with the palm of your hand to get them...
