Fitting devon roof

  1. It has a wooden frame, what do I use to seal the wood to the bus roof. Any good ideas.
This is an early Devon pop top going over the gap of a rear hinged westfalia. I know the gap
for the Devon roof should be longer, but I don't want to cut the roof. Am going to afford
a westfalia pop top in the future so using this for a temporary measure.

  2. I've never seen how the early Devon roofs are fittted, but if the later ones are anything to go by, there is an L shaped metal upstand screwed down to the roof aperture...the canvas is glued around a separate box section Aluminium frame that fits over the upstand....

plenty of pro conversion companies still use timber to batten around window cuts....this is bonded directly to the surrounding metal with Sikaflex 252....

I'd resist the temptation to do a 'temporary fix' with a view to fitting a Westy later on....months turn into years quite easily, as I'm sure you'll know. Leaking roof can ruin an interior in next to no time....

post a couple of pics of what you have, as there'll be some other good suggestions, I'm sure
