We now only use the pop top at Volksworld when its ideal to show it off and chuck the Cobb BBQ and the sleeping bag up there out of the way. Looks like somebodys sleeping in it too. Maybe should make a creepy dummy head...
We now only use the RnR bed. The pop top was used more when we were somewhere with the kids and it gave them somewhere to hide while it was chucking it down, while the adults relaxed below.. usually used an awning while camping or a 2 man tent for kids.

  2. Space all helps with the cabin fever on a wet day.

  4. Ah that's it, I forgot the black top. If I remember right, it has two gas struts each side fixed either end of the van opening then sloping up meeting centre of the poptop side.
When its not so windy. I'd appreciate it if you check what the force, length and stroke of the gas struts are as the only ones I could get with a long stroke where 300N which was too much.
What's the height from the bottom edge of the roof to the van fluttering when the roof is up?

@EggBoxes , I used 4 no struts from Strutsdirect.co.uk part number SD04-500. They are adjustable and I probably have them too strong at the moment but I was allowing for some softening, which hasn't happened yet (been fitted 5 years). I haven't got any pull down bars yet but you really need them for ease of use. From memory you have to order the correct end fittings separate.

  6. Try SGS and get adjustable struts starting with a loading higher than what you need. They will match it to what you need. So, for instance if you need 150 per strut id get 200 at least and then tweak down. Dont go too high as the method of adjustment is simply to let gas out over a short, timed, period (ie counting and screwing an allen screw in and out) and if your doing that a few times you could get them pretty uneven. If you go too far they will repressurise for you. Take a drive to derby and do it on the car park outside if your close. I went ove and they did em whilst i waited.

  7. @crossy2112 Thanks for the details, I will have a look at the website.
@Dicky a bit of a trek for me now, used to be near. The Gas adjusts sound worth a go, was avoiding as I thought I'd just be forever sending them back to get regased.

Id give it a go. I guessed at mine and its a bit too stiff. Wanted to see whether they would ease off after sm3nding weeks or months compressed but ok so far. If you adjust down you can guesstimate at whick
H point you went too far if your methodical and get them to regas at that!
