Just finished putting the engine back together and started it for the first time since August. A few seconds of turning over while some fuel got pumped through to the carb and it fired up and ran at 1800revs. Once the choke came off it sat happily at 900. Nice tone to my new stainless exhaust and tailpipe. ;D It sounds a little like its blowing from somewhere but everything is all tightened up properly and i can't find a leak. ??? Shame the tailpie sits so low though. Think i'm gonna have to file out the mounting slots in the bracket to raise it up a bit. I've an idea i might do some damage to it if i don't .

My stainless exhaust sounded a little like it was blowing but it wasent leaking anywhere I think stainless just gives a different tone to mild steel
Its the lack of soot in the new pipe gives it the sportier tone. I prefer the acoustics of Dorset villages myself - the parallel rows of Purbeck stone houses are bigger versions of dry stone walls.
Dorset is a little far away for a raz around though. I got stopped in the Mersey tunnel by the tunnel police in my bug once and told off because it was too loud. That used to set off shop window alarms though. >
Tailpipe bracket mounting holes filed out a tad which results in the tailpipe end being 1 1/2" higher up.
