Hi All - just got back from a weekend away and have developed a problem selecting first gear (2.0l 1978 T2) - clutch seems ok and it goes in gear if rolling forwards (albeit with a clunk). I guess its proberly a worn linkage? - any thoughts on changing the stick for the quick shifter types? Also any thoughts on which is the best maintenance manual ? cheers Y'all
It may be superb but I can't warrant that sort of money. Sorry thread jacking. Check your linkages are ok mate and if you haven't done already, replace your bushes
you may wanna check linkage and as for a change of stick i got a scat, takes all the play out of pudding bowl movement . try resetting gear stick do this by slacking off bolts/or nuts,to realign stick but read up on this 1st as you may end up getting no gears lol. i think the original selectors in the box are brass and they are change for steel ones.
