Firewall refit help

  1. With a little bfi the firewall came out... Now for the refit... However seems I need to remove a bit of the tin at the back of the engine, type 4 BTW, found most of the screws holding it in, but like everything else I have tried to remove, there are always some special hidden away screw's to be removed. Ideas anyone, as usual the manuals just say remove and replace, no information on how!

  2. If you're taking it off, there're two screws that go vertically upwards at the outer edges. They hide.

  3. Re fitting is the reversal of removal;)

If it came out with the tinware in place why wont it go back in with the tinware in place?

I don't remember any particular prioblems when I refitted mine. Ahh thinking about it, I refitted mine BEFORE I refitted the engine. Sorry, not much help.

  5. Like in said, it came out with a little BFI.... The bottom edge won't go over the top edge of the rear tin.... So figured remove it....

  6. I found from experience that you need to push it up at the top so it sits under the lip and the it will go into place, a firm push with the palms, a right b****td with the engine in but it can be done, I put mine in before the engine went back but then removed and replaced with the engine in place, it should sit neatly and the bottom line up with the front tin so the seal will fit neatly again... keep at it it does work!
