Finishing around interior windows

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by secondtimearound, May 5, 2013.

  1. Renewing the interior of our Viking, which is a converted panel van, and the finishing around the window openings is a bit pants. Some dodgy fibreglass mouldings in places, some just vinyl stuck on, some with with wood and nails!

How have you finished around the windows in your converted vans? Anything clean and neat?

    Thanks!

Woollies trim is my first thought

  6. Is the fiberglass moulding just on the sliding door or is it around other windows?
If its around other windows do you have any pictures?

  7. Hi Chaps! Thanks for the replies! I'm going to take some pictures this morning so you get a better idea.

    Thanks!

Does the seal look like a mini door seal ? Like a tube of rubber stick to a I shaped gripping part?

  10. P1020328-Interior (1024x768).jpg Here's an example of what I meant. As you'll see, when the window goes in with a rubber, there is a nice bare area of ugly metal. The pillar I've arrowed had a crappy fibreglass moulding over it, another one had a frame made of hardboard around it (original!) both covered in vinyl. How else do converted panel van owners do it?

There is a nasty fibre glass one around the sliding door as well - a big thing

    :)

This is all I've got for now, I'm guessing its been boxed in and covered in the fabric/carpet stuff the rest of my vans covered in lol looks neat though I love it x

Is this what you meant? IMAG2336-1.jpg

There's not enough buns for that much sauce, ;)

  16. Thanks Tiny-Pie - I realise now that I'll just box it in with something and cover it - like the idea of a thin carpet type thing.

Off to Dubs in the Park this weekend, so will have a butchers there as well.

  17. :) its a nice finish in my opinion and cosy too... sure you'll do a crackin job x

  18. The PO fitted some 'nice' aluminium frames around the windows, then covered them in office carpet. Not sure when the creepy black furry substance was added o_O

Going to be drilling out the rivets this weekend and hoping it doesn't look worse underneath (if that's possible).

I fitted lining carpet down to the curtian track and then painted the metal to match the body
