  1. Seen a good film ? Rate it highly ? or was it a piece of poo ? let us know here
To start the ball rolling, I recently watched
    "Limitless"
    Genre - Sci-Fi (ish)
Comments : I really enjoyed the movie, made me think and there were a nice few twists in it, it might be that I enjoyed it more than I should have as I am into this type of film, but I really enjoyed it, overall, a good storyline, kept me captivated and had a great ending. I would not say this is worth going to the movies to see though, I reserve 9/10's for "wish I'd seen that at the movies"
    8/10

    Well worth watching

Can it be from anytime? Dont know if there are specific rules?

Well i watched a film with Kiefer Sutherland the other week called 1969.
Made in 1988. Got a lovely split in it and a really good soundtrack too.

    Stolen from IMDB

    1969
Two friends, Ralph and Scott live in a small minded town at the onset of wide public dissatisfaction with the Vietnam war. While Scott's brother enlists, he and Ralph are outspoken in their opposition to the war. Scott's attitude alienates him from his father and he and Ralph leave town to enjoy their 'freedom'. Various events lead them back to town where they learn of the death of the brother. This event proves to be the catalyst needed to bridge the gap between father and son and enlightens them both to the true cost of war.

  5. cool - i will add to this as i try and watch quite a few films

  6. Cats & Dogs
Genre - Hummm not totally animated but talking dogs, cats, pigeons and a mice - Childrens movie
Comments : My wife took the kids to see this at the movies, however my daughter apparently spend most of the movie in the toilets so we just watched it again, its actually quite cute for a kids type film, some quite funny parts even for us old farts. Could not sit through it again, but for a family movie its worth watching. Based on a spy type movie.

  7. ive just downloaded schindlers list to watch tomorrow night, never seen it and im looking forward to it

i was in my local Ikea about 2 years ago going from the checkout to the carpark via the large lift and it was full with around 20 people in and i noticed the makers of the lift was a company called schindler, I was quick and loud to point out we were in "schindlers lift" and I was the only one laughing there was no sense of humour in that lift. i must go back and crack the same joke see if i get a better response

  8. any chance we can keep it to recent films? otherwise i could review every film i have ever seen ...

  9. The Mechanic - Jason Statham

Poor remake of the old Charles Bronson film in the 70's. Good action in it - but i have to say i much prefer the origional.

Its a canny watch tho if you have a spare couple hours and a few beers

    genre- marvel action

comments - good story about its who we are as a person not how we look or how strong etc, great fx the cgi when he is skinny is really good. a good film to watch if you enjoy marvel also stick around after the credits for a sneak preview of the Avangers coming out next year 8)
i watched it in 2d not 3d and really enjoyed it

and remember its from a comic so dont make stupid comments like the man sat in front of me "they wouldnt have weapons like that during world war 2"

    8.5/10

  11. Clash of the Titans

Genre - Full on Sci-Fi action

Comments - Typical blokey action type movie, but with a little lovefest thrown in, overall not a bad movie with some good special effects, couple fit ladies and some hunky dudes for our female viewers.......I enjoyed it

    8/10

Not a bad day so far and I finish work soon ;) ;)

  12.
  13. Paul - 8/10

Quite funny in places. Not perfect but still has some highly amusing bits. Good fun film.

  16. Watched a Korean film the other day called 'I saw the devil'
    Its 2010 so quite recent.
Despite the violence the story line was very good and would recommend to those who like a thriller with various twists.

Its got 7.8 on IMDB which isent that bad.

  17. Moons

    Moons Guest

    Super 8
Genre - Not sure, not 100% kids as it had a Cert 12
Comments : Went with the missus, sans sprog for a change. Late night Sunday in Brum, us and four other people so its not such a hot ticket at the mo. It's JJ Abrahams so will always be a bit weird - I also heard Speilberg was involved which was good and maybe explains why its so like ET in colour and tempo. I liked the nostalgia - it didnt try too hard to be late 70's early 80's set (thought the BMX anorak in me noticed the bikes were not of that time) and the special effects added to it, rather than became its nucleus.

If you liked Goonies, ET, Gremlins, Back to the Future then you'll like this. If you didn't, then don't watch it. Simples. BTW Mrs Moons didnt get it at all but then she's early thirties and the story didnt involve prostitute turns out to be good girl, bodice ripping or someones last days on this earth finally finding love scenarios, so she wouldnt have anyway.

  18. Birdy

    Birdy Not Child Friendly

    The Human Centipede.

    Horror (supposedly)

Quote "Tom Six's bizarre biological horror film has the distinction of being 100% medically accurate"

Now a cult film and with part 2 being banned, the authorities are not depriving you from a great follow up if part one is anything to go by.

Nutty doctor Heiter who is ace in his field of separating twins decides to join 3 people to make a centipede all joined at the mouth and rectum. Yes you did read that correctly.

Your already getting a feel for the film aren't you. What you don't expect to see if the head of the centipede take a poo.........that goes into the shocked mouth of the human in the middle who during the film develops an infection around her mouth that is sown onto the bum of the lead person

The police investigate some missing people, the human centipede attacks the Dr, there is a show down, the head of the centipede (Japanese man) spouts of stuff about honour and kills himself, the bum of the centipede dies of sepsis from eating double poo and then there is a show down between police and Dr and all die. Except the middle one of the centipede who is left alone in a room with her 2 dead centi-chums.

I strongly recommend this film if you fancy something more than a black comedy horror. It really is categoryless.

  19. Honky

    Honky Administrator

The last film we watched was Nuts in May.

Either produced or directed by Mike Leigh.

All about a couple camping in Dorset. If you've spent anytime in Dorset you'll love seeing the sites on screen.

There's not a great deal to say about the film but it's a comedy and very dry.

Worth a watch especially if you've been to Dorset.

    7/10.

    Available hardly anywhere.

  20. Your Highness

This film is just bizarre, funny and random as hell.

It's a story about two princes - one who is successful and loved by his father and the other one who is a bit of a slob - anyway without giving away any spoilers - a princess gets captured and the two princes have to join forces to save her.

It's quite a stoner kind of comedy - based on medieval days of olde with a modern load of swear words. There are some very funny bits - and a lot of 'wrong' humor ...

You also get to see Natalie Portmans bum which is always a bonus!

    7.7 out of 10
