I read the 'I'm leaving' post and have to admit I misjudged his staying power and humour levels. Any lurkers reading this, my advice would be to ease yourself in gently, don't be a square peg in a round hole from day one. Its best to actually get in the hole before you decide what shape you are. You wouldn't walk into the middle of a group of 10 people in a strange pub and expect to be best mates instantly, just because you have read a lot about them individually. Some people do have this ability, but not many. Most normal people can gauge the level of the forum and post to suit. It does look cliquey from the outside, but it is a very easy clique to join.
I don't want to be partly responsible for driving off members with my posts and I know how long it takes some people and how difficult they find that first ever post. I hope some lurkers are reading this sensible stuff and start typing Normal service resumes soon
well said al , me neither , i think banter is good , but sometimes we might be down in the tooth and suffering with real life stuff and sometimes stuff gets said that hurts or you dont read the same on a different day, "but what do i know"?? Your all not a bad lot really
