    That's not the bracket for an oil filled filter.
    Its for the square paper type.

    The oil filled one sits on a circular shelf in the same position as the one in your photo.

    You've got the bracket for the square paper filter type air filter.
     
  7. Am I better off leaving the pancake filter on the carb then?

    Would I benefit from returning the the mounted paper filter?

    Plenty do just that. It would seem the cheaper option at the moment, unless you have running issues that you think a stock filter will address.

    That is the part Craig, it's a stand for an paper element air filter. Silver's won't fit it, though I've seen them bodged into place with tie-wraps - nothing's impossible.
    I'd start another wanted for paper element filter housing or change this one.

    You'll be ok in the summer, so time to keep your eye out for the paper type one. In the meantime carry on with your pancake filter. :thumbsup:

    Yes, it'll run better particulary when it's cold.
