Exhaust for rebuild - Empi quiet pack or standard?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by chrisselby, May 10, 2013.

  1. With my engine rebuild underway I need to source a replacement exhaust, my budget is quite small due to the wallet busting engine cost, so was thinking along the lines of an empi quiet pack or a standard replacement until I can afford a stainless one.

    What's everyone's opinions and experiences please :)

  2. Standard... Until you buy a vintage speed.... You will really like the vintage speed.. A lot!

  4. Yes vintage speed in my sights but not for a while yet!

Is the empi quiet pack actually quiet, or a really nasty cheap sound?

I can get the empi cheaper than standard one that's why I was looking at them

  5. The EMPI will be sh*te: a noisy box that will rust before your eyes.

If you've got a single carb, go stock.

  6. Yes ate standard 1600 with single carb.
I pulled a stock one off, maybe ill take another look at it to see if it can be reused. Might get be though another 12 months with a lick of hr paint.
