Enkie Slot Mags. What are they worth?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by MrPotatohead, Apr 12, 2013.

  1. I've just bought a split that has late bay running gear, so 5/112 stud pattern all round, and it's currently sporting a set of original Flat 4 Enkie Slot Mags that, to be honest, I'm not that keen on. Plan is to swap them out for some polished SSP Fooks when they get round to having them in stock again!

So, at some point there may be a set of slot mags up for sale, trouble is I have absolutely no idea what they are worth. I can't find a set of originals that have sold, or any currently for sale with a price. Is it right that Flat 4 don't make them anymore in Japan?

They're in pretty good nick, a few marks but not curbed, and would refurb well. The centre caps are a bit pitted tho.

    Any ideas?

  2. You got any pictures of them buddy?

  3. Not any just of the wheels. They're safely tucked up in the garage right now! I'll be getting the fronts off again tomorrow so could take one of each and of the reverse (with the "Flat 4", and "made in Japan" text). Here's a couple of pics with the wheels in tho, but not much detail!

  4. I love slotmag wheels (enkei or otherwise). Don't have the cash to buy them though.:(

I can see why you want to change them - nice wheels, but don't suit a splitty :(

  6. these went out of fashion a long time ago never really came back , owen nw

  7. "These went out of fashion a long time ago never really came back". Not sure that Prosign would agree! They're the don on a late bay IMO.

Agree that they don't suit a splitty tho. I've shoed it with some 175/55's to try and help aethetically for now, and tried to wind the adjusters down a touch last night but they're stuck solid. Waiting On a T2D dropped spindles back order to sort it! Still going to swap them for Fooks tho.

No ideas on value then? May have to drum up a bit of interest, whack em on eBay, and let them find their own value. image.jpg

  10. I think thay quite suit a bay, Flat four still make them and cool air and heritage sell them.

  11. In that case I've Just found them on the Karmann Connection site. I think mine are the Flat 4 one that they are selling for £180 a pop, so £720 a set! Technically it sounds like the Flat 4 ones are repros as the original version was the "very rare Ansen Slot Mag".

Don't think the Heritage or Cool Air ones are Flat 4 made in Japan ones tho.

They look like repros to me, originals would have a better finish inside the holes and wouldn't be laquered they also look very shiny for 30 year old wheels, probably no more than a few years old

  13. When you say repros do you mean not Flat 4? They're branded "Flat 4" and "made in Japan" on the inside, are certainly not 30 years old, so almost certainly came out of the KK stock. It was rolling on them back in 2008 so have had at least a good five years of use.

Cool air have them at £92 a rim-10% late bay discount around £320 a set new, I would say £2-250 ish used

  15. I love slotmags. Must ... resist... cannot .... buy.... they'd look rubbish on my standard height bay. :(

  16. Doh! See earlier post. Cool Air and Heritage are not Flat 4. They are repros! Hence difference in price between them (£94) and KK (£180) per wheel!

And yes, HAS to be lowered for these to have a chance!
