Engine swap

  1. Advice needed, apart from tin wear...is there any difference between a camper and bug engine

Yes I realise that a camper engine is normally in a camper and bug engine in a bug!

A beetle case doesn’t have fixings for the engine bar.

  3. But you can get an adaptor to fit it

  4. So I can fit my 1641cc lump from my camper in my bug and back?

  5. Yes you can but you will need an adapter to bolt to the oil pump cover to allow it to be connected to the rear support bar and you may need to swap the exhaust.

  6. If the 1641 is in the camper then it should have the engine bar mounts so no problem to fit in the bug and then back into the camper.

  7. ...which are fairly horrible things...

  8. Some replacement cases have the tapped holes ready for the cross member to bolt into..to be universal... worth checkn before the oil pump cover adapter option
