Engine support cross member and bay area

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by leflipflop, Sep 5, 2019.

  1. Good morning all..

I plan on going the tdi route in my bay and my current engine support crossmember is a bit rubbish. Will i still require the original crossmember for the tdi installation or would a custom support be more fitting..

Many thanks in advance for the support

You will need to make up a custom mount.

Just to be clear, are you talking about the engine mount bar that bolts to the engine?

  5. One thing i wish to ask...the area where i assume the engine trim would sit...whats the best way to approach repairing these... remove entirely..? Are there replacement pieces avail? Looks like mine have been fibreglassed at some point

Both sides rear corners have these "plates" is this oem? Or been added for a reason?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

That looks like the lower part of each body panel has been replaced . Normal rusty bus treatment.
Hopefully the chassis box sections are still strong enough to have different engine supports fixed to them.
