    The engine is coming out of Betty to sort out an oil leak.
    Suggestions as what to check / replace while the engine is out would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    If you check under the search function you should find what your looking for, I would look at the following;

    While the engine is out and before you put it back in,
    Take firewall off and check petrol tank, and breather pipes
    Replace breather pipes behind the fire wall,
    Check all metal work around engine bay, paint, replace or wax up before engine goes back in,

    there may be more, and I'm sure more will be added :)

    Clean everything and notice your entire rear chassis has rotted away - happened to me. :) 2 months before I got the pesky thing back in.
    Replace split driveshaft boots - nice and easy from the engine compartment.
    Replace the petrol pipe from the tank - again easy without getting a facefull.
    Make it look like Birdy's.

  4. whatever needs doing
    + replace all fuel pipes

  5. I plan to do this too as I have an oil leak, but its not too severe, although it can look bad when the oil is hot and thin, anyways before you take the engine out why not give the underside a good clean, then run the engine until the oil starts to leak, this may give an indication as to where it could be coming from, I plan to take my engine out over the winter, not too concerened about the oil leak yet, at least this way she gets a top up of fresh clean oil every so often, my inlet manifold rubbers have perished so thats my job for tomoz, hope you get it sorted !!

    That's the one - perhaps a little less elbow grease on the fan housing.

  9. ^this. While the engine's out, whip the fuel tank out as well, and do all the hoses (nice thread by joker). Clean the crud out of your tank, remove all foreign objects (there were many Strange Things in mine) and if you're feeling flush change the fuel sender.

    Def renew all your fuel lines.

    Change the gearbox oil seal if you're feeling energetic.
