Afternoon all, I'm after a chrome engine lid lock, preferably with a key although I'm sure I could re-key if necessary. Prefer with old style keys rather than the new plastic ones if poss. Anyone got anything? Cheers
Are there different ones? I'm after just a chrome locking one, ideally with old style key for a '76 bay. What've ya got? Cheers mate
Think there are at least 3 as the two I've got don't fit at all. I'll get some pictures - does yours have 1 screw or 2/3 screws?
I only know that as I have two here that don't fit . I'll get a picture of both for you tomorrow sometime.
My bus is also one screw, but it still didn't fit. I'll take a picture shortly (hoping its not in garage as keys for that are somewhere else) I've deffo got one of those though, how desperate are you for it? + what's your location.
No hurry mate, just want to be able to lock my new engine up. It's not fitted yet! I'm in Bristol, where are you?
They both look different to mine. The one I need doesn't have the hook but more a latch that comes out of the chrome barrel part near the fixing screw. I'll get a photo later. Thanks for looking mate, much appreciated!
The one pictured with the key code containing an M is in fact a Beetle one and therefore will not fit! Bus key codes are L and R.
Those locking engine lid handles are either prototype bay or beetle, neither of them will fit. Locking chrome engine lid handles for late bays are like rocking horse poo, and when you find one, it has scene tax like you wouldn't believe. In the end I had to get a black one which used the same key as you used to get on the Mk2 golf!
