Engine door Seal

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by EggBoxes, Mar 22, 2020.

  1. Seal around the engine door.
I haven't had one fitted for ages, as was waiting for the respray that hasn't happened.
Does the seal do anything other than water proofing?

Yes. It stops exhaust fumes getting sucked into the fan, then blown into the heating system.

  7. Thanks, I'll get one. Forget the cabin air comes from the engine bay.

I thought it might have served to increase the engine bay air pressure for better engine cooling.

  8. It will keep the engine compartment airtight.

It also keeps rain out of the inside of the hatch structure. So that by the time it gets resprayed it isnt bubbling through.
Closed cell foam wedged in the channel?
