Engine bay - what is this???? (2.0 Fi)

Any ideas, its by the side of the passenger side (LHD) tail lights - I am assuming it is part of the emissions stuff on my 79 US Import...


this comes from it but is not connected to anything

I'd say probs a charcoal filter but I don't know if urs was fitted with one =]
