Engine bay seal

I have just bought a new engine bay seal and I'm after some help with fitting it,
Will the seal stay on on its own or will I need some sort of glue to put it on there with?

on its own provided your tinware's in place...don't ask which way the shiny side goes....

 

Sorry it's the engine bay lid seal not the engine bay seal should have made it more clear

 

Ah! I see...no...you shouldn't need any glue....it sort of 'squashes' into place

 

Thank you vanorak I will give it a go hopefully I won't uncover any delights when I take the old one off!

 

Hmmm. You may be disappointed there...

 

I used Evo Stik contact adhesive matey, in a tin with a brush on the lid...was just the job.

 

Only drive with the lid shut, then the seal wont fall out

 

Make sure you have the right seal. Don't get the one from JK. It's to hard and not the correct profile. I found out the hard way and ended up buying another one. Have a look on Ratwell.com, section 26.

 

With the cheaper seals you may find you cant shut your engine hatch

 

Probably not an issue!! Quick access!
