Hi everyone, it's my first post on here, and it's a shame it isn't a happier one ..... I need your help! I have a 79 bay with a 2L engine. During a camping trip, we sprung an oil leak underneath, seemed to be coming from the flywheel area. On the way home the gears seemed to cease up and we ended up coming back on an AA truck. Gutted to say the least. My usual mechanic is on holiday and we need the camper fixing for a family do next week. Does anyone know a mechanic in Preston who is handy and trustworthy with these busses? I'm not looking for a specialist as such, some someone who knows these campers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi, Can't help you in Preston but we use David Wise at Accrington Beetles and Campers and would always trust him to sort us out at a reasonable price. ( he has been known to tell us not to bother doing some things we have asked him to do, thus denying himself work).His number is here www.beetlesandcampers.co.uk and if you can't get the van to him, he may be able to point you to someone in Preston. Hi - i have just joined the forum and i am restoring a camper and i live in Preston I have just taken my gearbox to Preston Transmissions as they are the only ones who seem to do air cooled St Marks Building, Wellfield Road, Preston , PR1 8SN Tel: 01772 378902 They have a garage and they take them out as well - so it may be a good option for you.
