Up on Sunday to take engine out as oil was all over engine bay Was thinking oil cooler Fitted new cooler but old one was ok But have now found large amount of end play This engine is new to me I bought it of a guy who had built it and was running it in a auto buggy So I have put a 200 mm fly wheel on it at this point it had NO end play fitted a clutch Put it in van had it running ok not on the road as van still not M O T or reg at moment All in all engine been run for maybe an hour So I had taken back out to fit tin wear /oil cooler That's when I found end play The guy I bought it of said not been run for 2 to 3 years Can I shim this Will take fly wheel of to see if the shoulder on fly wheel is same as one I took off Oil due to my mate over filling Oil coming up breather tube and being blown around engine by by fan
When you say end play, did you measure the amount (end float is the correct term) and was the flywheel bolted up? Measure with the flywheel on, the norm is ~0.08mm to a max of 0.15mm
