  1. I am still running points, no issues other than its a pig to set them, you need 3 hands. Never had an issue on the van, just check em at service time.

  4. Single vacuum advance...a holy VW mantra. Basically, mech advance dissy plus a vac can, for those special occasions...

  6. Thanks for that Richard, and your PM.
I am gradually getting my head around this aftermarket VW ignition business!!
Now I await advice from Evil Ben as to which direction to jump.

  7. I have been advised before to do that, just scared it won't go back properly. Suppose it's dead easy to do, can you screw anything up though.

  8. Well, all things are possible :). Easy enough to do, tho'. I've never been able to set the points properly in a bus without taking the dissy out, as i don't have a neck like ET...

  9. As nobody has mentioned them yet... I will add the 123 dissy to the mix, just cos they look pretty and make your van more saintly

  10. They are very shiny :)

  11. Hi guys
123 is a super unit, not cheap but you get what you pay for, I'm the cheapest supplier if you need one.
    Cheers

  12. When you say you get what you pay for what extra or better do you get over the 99quid acuspark black box setup ? I know you get the actual dizzy with the 123 but for the money a 123 is you are nearly at a megajolt crankfire dizzy less timing setup..... Its a genuine question as the acuspark black box works with any electronic points set up

  13. Yes it's the dizzy you get it's easy to set up, it's well made compared to the us crap, and you can set what curve you want to suit the engine, horses for courses . Go with what ever you want just my opinion on a nice set up.

  14. I'm not knocking either system ..... Electronics is not my strong point ,I currently have pertonixs and will probably go megajolt route with the S/C , out of curiosity where is the 123 made ?

  15. 123 is a dutch company I believe they might not be actually made there

  16. anyone ever seen a vac advance and retard distributor with electronic ignition?

  17. The 123 has a vac advance port. There's no need to buy one (they're made in the Netherlands or Belgium, as I recall) if you just want EI. A Pertronix or Accuspark (or a £20 Maplins kit) is fine.

I can't see the point of buying a programmable one unless you've got a dyno or rolling road to test it on.
