Electrics...

  1. After a little break I am now going to tackle getting my electrics for Vera sorted. I've got a power management system to manage the system and putting the electric hook up in the engine bay along with a CR50 fridge, 240v sockets and various 12v led lights.
I was wondering what people have done, any hints n tips and also what switches & sockets have been used.
    Cheers

  2. You may already know this, but use 6mm cable for the fridge.

  3. I used a marine switch panel. Got a switch for the water pump for the sink, one for the roof lights and one for a 12v socket, plus a two way switch for van battery or leisure battery and a battery gauge. Wasn't expensive and looks neat and tidy. 240 hookup goes into a RCD and onto a 3 pin outlet. Was fairly simple to cable it all up if you have some wiring experience.....no shortage of wiring diagrams on the interwebs

  4. Thanks guys, have you used normal/house style switches or the automotive rocker style switches? It's only really from a looks point of view to be fair

You may find that the automotive switches are rated for higher current than mains switches so will have lower voltage drop when they are turned on.

If the current is high (more than 10 amps) , then use a relay turned on by a switch to avoid burning the switch contacts.
