Eberspacher re-circulating air vent location measurements

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by icepug, Nov 16, 2013.

  1. Right, the ebers in and fitted. The last job is to cut the the hole in the boot space near the spare wheel well so I can connect the recirculating air shroud to the back of the heater. Problem is I can't seem to guess where it goes. I don't suppose someone has one fitted and could tell me some measurements?!? Maybe even take a few pictures so I can figure out how it fits? Cheers in advance you lovely people.

  2. Mines fitted into the rear space under the crewcab seat near to the fuel tank and is plumbed into then centre heater pipe. I don't know if any of this helps what your trying to do, I can try and get pics tomorrow if you like?
    :)

    • Ive no idea where it would go but if yours is a camper and you want to use the heater whilst camping then thats going to be a bit low, Thinking mattress , bedding and luggage. I think I would be fitting a cupboard or putting it at high level. Also shes going to be noisey if your sleeping there. Just a few thoughts!

  7. It has to go there if I want to use the original pipe work. There won't be any obstruction to the air vent and it just so the heater uses pre heated air, thus being more economical. Once the van is up to temp, it will only kick in every now and then. If you look on page 4 of the link you'll see what I mean. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/bn4/bn4_installation_instructions_1972_up_bus.pdf

I suppose I could guess it by look and at some pictures but it would just be nice to be about to measure it out out and cut the hole. Otherwise I'm working blind really
