DRLA 36's

  1. So .. manifolds does it matter too much that most of them seem to be for bigger throat carbs , guess they aim for the 44 mid size catch all with the mould!
Could I take out the step with a chamfer on the thick heat stopping gasket?

  2. I noticed this & if it helps I'm running DRLA 36 & didn't make any attempt to blend the manifolds & genuinely can't see the benefit considering these aren't (generally) performance engines.

Good luck, they are a brilliant Carb choice.

  3. I'd imagine the manifolds have 40mm pipes on them to cater for the bigger carbs. "Overhangs" (carb base smaller than manifold holes) are fine: it's "underhangs" that are best avoided, as they disrupt airflow.

Not much you can do - I'd just slap them on. As above, Dells will transform the engine. Won't be perfect, but it's a 1970s van, not a Lotus

  5. I'd keep them as short as poss, without them getting in the way of anything (hard to judge until they're on). Is it a type 1 engine?

  6. No it'll be 2ltr type 4 when new(ish) pots go on
