Drive shaft boots cracked but not split

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by keithandtrudystype2, Apr 20, 2013.

  1. Spotted rh drive shaft boots are cracked but not split. I think unless they are split it's not an mot fail, thinking of replacing anyway, query is is it straightforward and do I buy the kit with the boots bolts etc.

    Thanks

  2. its recently an mot fail,if split, and u would not (imo)want to be running around with a split boot anyhow ,given the cost and work re replacing a C.V. joint , its straighforward enough ,time consuming and messy, if u buy the kit it will prob. come with most but not all the bits/parts, assuming u wish to replace everything i.e. mine did not include the washers , but as they cost only a few pence each ,worth replacing ,and for some reason the grease kit seems to supply a little less grease than is nec.but then for the cost /time i"m from the school of "do the lot once and do it totally , *(thou u can fit a boot and have it damaged the next day due to something off the road contacting it) also, the head of the bolts u get in kit may require a diff. tool to fit, check b4 u start removing anything, hope this info of use to you.
