Door/Window seals

  1. Hi All,

One the list of jobs I need to address on Harvey are the door window seals. Both the inner & outer scrapers on both doors are shot, though the rest of the seals seem in serviceable condition.

Are the scrapers replaceable in isolation, or do you effectively need to trash & replace all the window seals, in order to do the job properly?

If the latter is the case, I'll need the full kit for both doors. I notice a large price discrepancy across the usual suspects:
    • JK are from approx £234 to £265 for 'budget' or 'Genuine', respectively.
    • VeeWee offer just 1 set at about £232 - no indication of quality (and no indication of the kit is for pop-outs or not).
    • Alan Schofield weighs in at £90 per side for genuine & £75 per side for repro.
    • VWH also has a 2-door set at about £170, again, no indication of quality.
These seem rather large price differences! (Since these are all retail/consumer sites, I'm assuming they are all inclusive of vat)

Has anyone had any experience with any of these kits? Are there any to be avoided/recommended?

    cheers

  2. Hi,

On our kits we do a Repro and Best Quality kit. (By the price you have quoted I think you have seen the Repro kit for both doors)

Of course it is down to budget that we offer both, personally I would always choose the BQ kit, its has the softer grey door seals in for a start, which make a massive difference.

Repro are about £86 a side where as the BQ ones are about £120

Always try and go for the best window and door seals if you can afford them, they are far easier to fit and are a better fit in general.

Don't forget as a member of this very forum you get a 5% discount on top!

If you see us at a show or one of the various Sale days there is normally 10% off, (next one I am aware of is Volksworld show)

    Hope this helps,

    All my best,

    Alex

    **EDIT**

And sorry I am not sure about the answer to your question as have only ever done scrapers when doing all the window seals at the same time.

  3. Ty @Alex VW Heritage .... :)

BTW...do you expect to bring a full selection of late Bay parts to Volksworld next month...? I'm slowly building up a shopping list!

    Cheers

Inner scraper is doable on its own, outer is rivetted to the alloy strip which requires the whole lot off so may as well do the full kit whilst it's all out.
I've just done mine with Schofields tq kit and its great.

No we wont be bringing any parts to the show, we stock 15,000 lines for 20 different vehicles so its kind of impossible to predict what to bring.

We take orders at the show, they get shipped out the next week,

Free delivery and not having to carry everything about with you tends to be preferred by most customers.

    All my best,

    Alex
