Door Pull

  1. Only posting this up as it is well worth doing.

Especially for that early morning whaz! When you wake the van up trying to shut the door.
I've a swing out cooker, so a bit trickier.
Takes the skill out of the Sliding door shutting speed certs.

Quick job with prototype bit of leather to try it.

  2. What is it Nick? Is it an extra handle or something?

  3. Yep, uses the existing nuts.

I'm sure there's a factory version which uses an original sliding door inner handle but I'm not convinced it's strong enough for pulling in a different direction than intended.
    Yours looks more purposeful
I made a bracket which uses a handbrake pull handle which works brill, and clears the rail cover when opening the door. I'll post a pic when i dig it out as van is stripped at the mo

  6. Handbrake handle, hadn't thought of that - good to have another idea, as it took 2 goes with aluminium plate.

It's worth doing - maybe after all the other jobs have been done.

I made something very similar using an old piece of seat belt that costs next to nothing but helps close the slider real quiet like. From memory it was about eight inches long or possibly ten. Doubled over under the bolts and a couple of decent washers to prevent fray. Works exceedingly well

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,But I also have a very large bottle :);):)

  9. I used a piece of an old brown leather belt made into a loop hanging downwards, fixed with the two existing bolts with washers and bolted into the captive nuts. Looks good, soft feel and easy pull shut.

  10. Love this idea.

When outside, for me, a gentle push on the rear of the sliding door helps it shut with minimal effort. So I wonder if one of these straps attached to the rear of the door will help pull the door inwards as it slides shut? Anyone done that?

Quick to try. It let you, slide the door nearly shut. and then pull it in at the rear to close it. Wee Buns.

  15. Ha! OK. Thought it was for the inside front of the sliding door by the handle.

Will be having a butchers at your additional pull handle at techenders in that case! Does it include a strap or just a knob for pulling?
