i still have my westy water tank inside the cupboard and wonder if the fill cap will be in the way if this is fitted, can you do me a pic of behind the unit or did you not have the fill cap for the water tank?

 

Sorry about the delay, alas the hob does need the fill cap / pipe moved to fit.
The unit is under going major surgery at the moment, so no photo of that area is possible.

 

did you remake that cabinet in the photos yourself? What colour laminat/ply did you use to make the doors? i am wondering if i could get something similar and put this hob into my current unit at the same time

 

Yes, it was a US spec Berlin (sink only) unit once.

Laminate is from International Decorative Surfaces (IDS)

Its not a bad match for the original, but has no knots. I last purchased a sheet in 2012, and it had stopped being made, but IDS had lots in stock.

good thread, still cant decide what to do with our unit!! might just remove the last of the crappy green paint and then try and stain/wax it
