  1. Im in need of the rubber seal that fits to the piece of dog house tin pictured below
Could someone point me in the direction of where i could buy one or does anyone have a spare one?
They dont seem to be available from the usual suppliers

  2. Oops title should have read dog house tin

  3. I used adhesive sponge draught excluder on mine and it did the job just as well, but without the scene tax.

  4. You can use foam strip (also round the bit you've shown), but Deimos Aircooled sell the U-shaped rubber seal that goes around the bottom edge, where it joins the "funnel" bit.

  5. Cheers guys

I have the u shaped rubber bit i thought the part i posted the picture of had a rubber seal also
However looking on the deimos site it appears its a foam strip not rubber
Draught excluder strip it is then:)

  6. Can't recall whether there was another rubber bit in addition to the U-shaped piece. May well have been foam, like they wrapped around the top of the oil cooler.

I got some neoprene self-adhesive stuff a while ago, which I've used everywhere.

  7. lol, last week I was looking at mine as I had removed the original foam seal before shot blasting and powder coating

I bought a roll of foam draught excluder to use on it too

I think the other bit around the dog house had some foam around the edge too if I recall correctly  .....think it is the bit shaped like an open ended box ......sort of

  9. And from heritage

It does appear that one seal is foam and one is rubber

  10. Done but im not 100% happy with the fit of it to be honest
Im tempted to use tigerseal on all the joints instead of sticky foam when i assemble it all on the engine properly

  11. I wouldn't imagine it makes much odds, para, tbh.

Is that your engine? You've got a velocity ring !

  12. Yes that my fan shroud dude and my shiny ring:D

  13. Looks a bit inflamed to me  .

Would be interested to hear if it lowers your temps. i've got one (unfitted) in the garage. Did you get it from Deimos?

  14. Its a genuine vw one dude
Im led to belive they were fitted from the factory to the fuel injection mexican beetles as they ran a lot hotter than there carb counterparts
From reading round it seems the general consensus is they do help lower temps quite a bit

  15. Waheeey. Never seen a "real" one before. I'd also heard they were fitted to the later Beetles.

The Deimos bit seems a reasonable copy - next time the engine's out, it's going on.

  16. Are you running a temp gauge at the moment snotty?

  17. I am, sir. Oil temp off a dipstick sender. Why do you ask?

  18. Im intrigued to see how much difference you see

Will you be welding it in place or riviting it in?

Ive seen the ones you have bought i belive they are made by awesome powdercoat in the usa or i should say they are made for them

Im not convinced they are exactly the same as the original vw ones though
