Liverpool... Well Formby, but everyone knew about purple aki!

 

My friends Mum knew Gerald Durrell. She left the UK with brood in tow and settled in various places in Greece, and the islands and Cyprus. His family are scattered all around but all end up back in Lefkas from time to time. I always imagine his childhood to be as idillic as Durrells novels.

 

I heard about him in the St Helens/Wigan area

 

Must be northern thing as it does not make sense in the cockney slange? Bootle is way too far. But is Liverpool a vw town I am on board.

I think the Bootle Boys thing came from a book called 'You know Me Aunty Nelly?' a history of the Liverpool accent and Liverpool nursery rhymes
