My missus drives mine, took me a while to feel comfortable to let her, the tyres have hit kurbs a couple of times, but LUCKILY not the wheels!! Just have to keep reminding her of the braking distances lol Shes the only other person to driver her in nearly a year (well, apart from the MOT dude) Whats everyone's stories? B O0
theres only me drove Major (unless you count the guys at Absolute VW) so far...Gusbus, he's not moved properly in years but so far its only me again once, from Leicester back home!
Only my dad has driven mine, bating me, and that was only a few hundred feet. Not sure I would trust anyone. Lol
Ms. T won't drive the camper but is quite happy to drive the T3/25 if necessary. A couple of friends have driven the camper but they are fellow owners & I've driven their vans.
Nope, nobody is allowed... Well I suppose i'd let my mum drive it if my parents wanted to use it.... but nobody else.... especially not paul haha x
Was just me ,till out one day ,with Bettys son, wife and grandson, and i had an unplanned ride in an ambulance :.Her son had to drive it back home for me , he said the power was awesome and the anti / brakes brilliant , especially as hed spent over half an hour pushing the side door lever up for his wife and son to get in before she accidentally pushed it down and realised der ;D then on arriving at ours he found reverse was not where he had hoped whilst bloking the road for some time. :. The MOT man drove it and must have taken it for a joy ride to cornwall n back and ran out of petrol ,but id forgotten to leave the cap key ,so he broke my original vw cap off ,to put some in . Betty wont /cant drive it as she has very short legs bless er,plus reaching the hand brake might be tough plus it leaves her free to have a glass of wine with her lunch when we stop off anywhere :. But know one else. My trust therefore has become somewhat dented :-
When I had a camper instead of the panel van, my missus took it into canterbury while i was at work. She was eight months pregnant at the time and got stuck in town because ,as said before, reverse wasnt where it was meant to be. She had to get people to push her backwards and forwards until she could get out of the parking space. That was the last time she drove it. But to be honest if she hadnt told me I would have been none the wiser.
Nobody else has ever expressed any desire to drive mine unsurprisingly, but they'd be welcome as I'm not precious about lumps of metal! Can't wait for my son to pass his test and ask to borrow it for festivals, it's what it's for.
My insurance covers me and Lou fully comp but i don't know how others are covered as i know we do not have the extra cover to drive other vehicle's with classic insurance !
yup, my dad, brother, sis in law, and two friends are insured on the bug and the bus. i wanted to get to the stage where they could use it for a hol if/when they want to.
Ali drives ours though she drives very close to curbs and I am constantly reminding her of this, am pretty obsessive about the van. Must remember to relax.
My missus had a go at driving her, but she has trouble with the psychadelic soup that is gear shift, I've done the bushes and stuff and find the gears easy to find....but must admit when she was driving her, I did feel totally out of my comfort zone. The plan is to go round an industrial estate where she can practice....but it hasn't happened yet
