I was going to go to Waddington o see this but the car parks were full and A15 jammed with traffic with people going to see them. I went up to the Castle / Cathedral area of Lincoln hoping they would fly directly over head. Unfortunately they didn't but at least I got a glimpse as buildings blocked the view for many.
I'm having to live this through the photos from BoB Memorial Flight & the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Not quite the same is it?
Classic British aircraft on Quest now. Just had the V bombers and buccaneer on and now onto helicopters
Shamelessly 'borrowed' from the RAF Banter ***** What Ace Book page. Not only the rare sight of these three aircraft but the timing and set up to get the actual photo is brilliant.
If you're anywhere near East Kirkby this afternoon you'll get the chance to see all 3 Lancasters together, fly past is at 3.25
I'm in the very lucky position of working with vintage aircraft every day, Currently repainting a P51D Mustang, did some conservation work on a 49 mission Lancaster cockpit last year, had the honour of showing the wartime navigtors son of this actual lanc around, the old boy had done 20 missions in it, when he got to sit in the same seat his dad had occupied during the war it all got a bit emotional, He brought his dads flying helmet and oxygen mask with him, now plugged in and on his nav desk, and on display at Iwm Lambeth road. scariest thing i've ever seen tbh not knowing if the plane is gonna pull up at last minute or change direction and come at you! however it was a good feeling waching the pilot walking out of the field carrying his helmet.
