Evening Barneyrubble it was a s******y new affair that had me flummoxed! And no, the blooming thing still did not work when moving the lever, only worked unbidden Is there some sort of motor between the stalk and the reservoir or is it purely on hydraulic pressure?
Im quietly pleased for no visible interior leakage (as far as I could see), however, the cap must have been on tightly as the pressure build up was enough to push the windscreen wash onto the windscreen without me touching the wiper stalk.
no is it hydraulic pressure the stalk has a valve to release the pressure,in early bays there was a switch and you had to press that...Pump it and move the arm it might be just temperamental...
I did wonder when I typed it! Especially as I have just been teaching about uses of gases, inc compressed air, in plumbing Que estupendo hay muchas gentes hablando Espanol!! No intiendo lo que dicen pero es muy interesante What are ardillas? and why are they eating your furniture Snotty?! as for your onions and elephants in your trousers!!! I shall try moving the stalk a lot and see if anything works. If not, its a squeezy bottle out the window job!
This thread is just what I have been looking for. My washer bottle holds pressure, water squirts out the jets, but it also drips out the base of the stalk down my leg. It's not a good look! The hoses don't look perished, so is the stalk knackered or is there something I can do to fix it?
Thanks Zed. The hose looks in good condition, indeed I think the PO probably replaced it in an effort to cure the leak as he gave me some left over hose. Could it be the stalk valve and if so, is this fixable or is a new/2nd hand stalk the way to sort it?
I too was pondering wether to ask the question. Never knew about this strange arrangement how very quirky. Where do I find the valve please?
It might not be there any more . Take off the kick panel and have a look for the hose with the valve on the end. Or an electric pump near the reservoir, if it has been modified with a pump.
