distributor timing

  1. Can someone please advise - I need to position the dissy drive in the case but the dissy doesn't have its clamp attached so although I can find TDC on 1 and point the rotor at the mark on the dissy case, I dont have a clue how to position the drive correctly!!!

    Its a Type 4 1800...
     
  2. wont it just move around without the clamp , excuse me if im being thick
     
  3. true - i could position it anywhere really... Ive tried to go off the 12 degrees as spec'ed by Bentley but I wasnt sure how this would affect anything
     
  4. Well ,from experience (not on your engine /model, but the j.muir way .,>sometimes you gotta do it by "ear" i.e. adjust , run it ,adjust again , run it , blah , blah , sometimes that is the way to go ,sometimes you got to trust what you hear /feel< might be worth a try?
