Difference in these seats?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lardy, Jan 8, 2013.

  1. Any ideas, the first is similar to the seat I had in my bus and due to it being broken and whilst I sort a replacement the seconds what I've put in. Question is why are they different? Is one early and one late?

  2. Yes looks like it...

I've got early seats in mine (top)

Whih is why I have a late available as in my bus I had an early and a late haha x

  3. Ok now I'm confused, I thought the seat you had for sale was a drivers late bay seat? :)

  4. Haha it is late... I mean I have 2 early ones in my van now, but I originally had an early and late so the late I had in there is now for sale x

  5. So what does the early passenger seat look like then? Is it the same shape?

    Early are shorter/squarer....

Later ones are tapered slightly at the top/thinner backed and curve slightly to fit body I think x

  7. Oh rite, I thought it'd have been the other way round. If you don't sell the seat I may have it off you, could collect it from dub freeze if you're going?

Early and late drivers seats have different runners, so it's the underside you need to compare.

  9. yep Zeds right, be carefull they have different runners. some have slide that hooks in and tooth like adjuster, some have a top hat type runner. i had numourous issues with seat bases. best thing is some of the mail order company think there is only 1 type.you may be better posting pic of under side of seat and floor ;)

  10. They're both the same underneath as I have early style runners. It's just the seat backs that are different?

The runners on the drivers side are slightly different on a late and just about work in early rails and the passenger seat does not have the bar across to fit in the fold hooks just a sort of pressing , it will fit a early hook with a fiddle .

  12. Now I'm really confused as both seats have the same bases, just different backs? :(

  13. You're photo bucket link is looking more like the one I've just fitted mate?

  14. its the runners you you need to check for def. i had a swivel base from bluebird customs with welded on runners and my seat would not fit. after numourous phone calls.. Volksheaven and Volksaholics both said you wont get early/late seats to interchange unless you cut the runners off the body and match em to the seat you want and weld em on.

The runners are dfferent if you have a 73 on bay then the ones in the pb link are right for your van.

They will tp but i have trouble adjusting my late drivers seat on the early runners!

  19. 72 runners are early - like a prototype! Very late are like T25 these arent interchangeable - ive tried! - there may be some variance around 73-75 which may confuse the issue.

  20. Thanks Dicky, I just preferred the early seat back, being wider it matched my passenger side.
