  1. Is there any difference between prototype bay and late bay air filters?? The oil bath ones. What about putting a paper style one on ? Anyone got a tidy ish one going cheap ? :)

  2. The mount to attach it to the van will be different

  3. Cheers, is that early to late or for one of the paper jobies

  5. This is what my early mount looks like (not currently in the noisy cupboard)

I remade the lower part after someone* cut it out rather enthusiastically

  6. Cheers, its not for me though so I have nothing to compare it to.

  7. Just chopped one of those out .. as it hit me carb

  8. That's why mine came out. Then I changed my mind and had to refit it. Made it bolt in, just as well as my mind has changed again

  9. Really early ones up to '71 have no attachment for the breather pipes, although you could easily braze some on. The also have a different thermostat thingie which channels air from around the barrels and heads to speed up warm up time, but I've no idea what the difference is. As someone else said, the later plastic air boxes have a completely different mount to the earlier metal sort.

Some earlier oil bath filters had the warm air flap operated by a cable attached to the flap mechanism. I admit I've never seen an operational one and possibly these were never originally fitted to bay window buses but have found their way onto a few.
Later oil bath have vac operated warm air pick up.
