dfav or dfev ?

  1. Hi guy's what is the difference between a dfav carb and a dfev carb ? and what is the preheat mod as well ?

  2. dfav is water heated choke (a is for aqua - weber is italian)

dfev is electric heated choke element

preheat mod is just to get some warm air up to carb if it has one of those pancake filters on it.

  3. Is there any other way i can make the choke operate without using warm air? and how would you get the warm air to the carb where would i have to tee it from?

  4. I think you misunderstand. The dfav has a connection to the cooling system of the car which provides heat to the choke element which disdables the choke when not needed. The DFEV has an electrical connection to it fed from the ignition which heats the choke element and switches the choke off.

The warm air mod is simply supplying warm air from the heating system to the carburettor into the air filter to pre heat the air going into the carb to improve the efficiency of the carb and therefore the engine. This is not absolutely necessary but should result in some small efficiencies and improve the cold running of the engine.
