I wish you luck ... Those units are fab !! They do come up on ebay occasionaly but are usually pretty rough and don`t make much . Might be worth buying a cheapo to use as a pattern
Good point but i`ve got a bit of a soft spot for `em - they were in my first van - a `68 Devon tintop Great retro design though , screw on bed legs which also supported the table - grand !!
That is a concern for me but, I would like to perhaps have a go at building one and trying it out, the extra storage sounds like a good idea but, I only want the unit to be around 3" high so very shallow drawers.
If i remember , the bed level , with foam , was a couple of inches below window height - i loved that van , totally functional Hope you get sorted ..
