Devon Moonraker roof hinges - help!

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by carbon123, Jun 29, 2020.

  1. Hi, two of my roof hinges have broken, and I need to replace them. I understand poptop-parts.co.uk are no longer trading. They had the right size hinges on their website (4 holes on either side). I've sourced some from Devon conversions that are a little smaller on one side with only 3 holes. See photos.
Can anyone help with getting the correct hinges please?
Also any advice on changing them with out removing the canvas would be appreciated. I was planning on useing rivet nuts rather than pop rivets for the fixing.
    Many thanks

I don't know where you'd get the hinges but I have done the exact job, with rivnuts. I have a feeling I had to free the the canvas at the bottom hinge side and part way up the side to make some slack. I think this was to get at the middle hinge mostly. If/when you take all the hinges off with the roof up it gets interesting, the struts want to push it off the side. :)

  3. Thanks zedders - that all makes sense to me

  4. This was where I removed the struts and propped the roof up. You'll see in the other thread about gassing and strutting how I said the pairs of struts are unequal lengths. Can you confirm @carbon123 if you get to take them off whether or not yours are also unequal.

It wasn't my bus. IIRC I expected them to be different lengths or power but they were all the same... But I wouldn't bet on it.
