Devon Eurovette Poptop removal

  1. How easy are these to take off? I have to install a new headliner to it and to glue it on i need to remove it. Any tips? Anything to be beware off? Ta.

  2. I think I replaced mine without having to remove the actual poptop...but I have worked on two Eurovettes where the 'headlining' was fixed in different ways. If it's the straight sided version and you want to take the 'cap' off then it isn't too hard. If you look around the perimeter (the aluminum section) there are a series of holes with recessed bolts (1omm from memory...possibly smaller). You'll need a long reach socket as they are quite 'deep'. Remove them all and detach the wiring for the strip light.

With a bit of a push the whole top will lift off the bellows leaving the frame behind.

  3. Although, like I said...you can do it without removing the top...it's just a bit more awkward...

  4. Thanks Karl. Its the straight sided version and yes i see where the recessed 10mm bolts are. The previous headliner kinda drooped and fell off. Underneath are 2 blocks of polystyrene, one per longitudinal half. The old one was glued on. Ive made a new one piece and covered it in foam backed vinyl, but cant think of a way to glue it on and support it as its only really mechanically fixed by sliding in the two long edges to the frame. I'd figured that if i just took it off, glued it on and then replaced it; this may well prove simpler and easier for me on my own.

I am also replacing the lighting wiring as ive placed two 0.6m strips of LED lighting on either end.
