We are thinking about a trip to Devon & Cornwall in june for a week and im just looking for advice on where to visit & where to stay. We won't have the van so We'll be driving down in the golf. Any nice lodges, cabins or cottages for rent that anyone know of? We usually do a ten day Scottish isles trip in the van but with a new baby we've decided to do something different this year. We'll probably stop half way on the way down for a night and the same on the way home just to break it up a bit. Any advice appreciated. I'll grab a coffee and put my feet up to read any responses tomoro.. Cheers Neil
Have a pint in the Heron inn at Malpas just outside Truro then take the ferry down the Fal to Falmouth. Minnack theatre , outdoor theatre carved into the rock near Penzance even better if there's a performance on that you fancy on a warm summer evening.
Stay at The Meadows in Pentewan and stay in one of their little caravans Then you won't miss your bus too much.
Teneriffe fm Camp site at Mullion ...they have pods, nice spot and have good facility's . And if you are thinking of tent camping , look up Trevellas Manor farm camp site breathtaking view of the sea ...basic amenity's but worth it for is position.
If you're looking at South Devon, we stayed in one of the cottages on this farm http://www.devon-cottages.org.uk/cottage/Higher-Poulston-Farm-Harvest-Cottag_Totnes_CP51.html Although it was about 7 years ago, so no idea what it's like now, but it was lovely when we went. If you haven't been that way before, it's worth a visit - fairly near to Dartmouth, Salcombe and Totnes, so lots to do.
We've often stayed in Kingsbridge or Bigbury. Think Toad Hall Cottages were the folk we used. http://www.toadhallcottages.co.uk/holiday-cottages/devon/south-devon/kingsbridge/ Beware: they talk a bit funny down there...
http://www.thevalleycornwall.co.uk/welcome Spent many a happy holiday on this site . Changed a bit since I've been last. Mevagissey I think is lovely for a stroll and a bag of chips. Bude for the beach Padstow Bodmin Jail So many places to mention I go blank. It's really nice that way. I'd research as much as you can. Enjoy
Eden project and get your van broke into while car park security drives by watching then have the pigs demand postage to send your recovered goods to you.
That sounds shocking! I personally didn't like the Eden project when we went a few years ago as to me it was just like a big garden centre which I don't like either
Eden project's worth a one-time visit I think, if only to have your picture taken by the cannabis plantation. It is a bit earth-mothery-holier-than-thou, tho'
The zip wire offers an interesting view of the domes too. Not all the guides were trained in Salt Lake City but they have to be 99.9% behind the corporate image
Already had my van broken into locally so I guess it could happen anywhere. Pricing it all up we could probably have a pretty nice holiday abroad for the same or less money., then I'd still be saying I'd like to visit Devon and Cornwall. Will keep looking at all the options. Thanks for the replies & advice.
A beard and sandals would definitely improve chances of employment. Best thing about it I thought were the domes...and they were engineering...
If you do decide to stay in blighty: https://m.facebook.com/croftfarmcottages/ I'm sure we can come up with a bit of an LB discount
