Dellorto DRLA

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by top banana racing, Jun 4, 2014.

  1. I see a number of people using DRLA 40's from Alfa Romeo's, aside from the manifolds, linkage and jetting is there a good reason NOT to use them?

  2. I believe you have to remove & blank off the cold start chokes. I think I read that somewhere...
We have twin DRLA 36's on our 2L auto, but they were already fitted when we bought the van.

  3. If your feeling flush then have a look on earlybay.com there is a guy selling a complete new EFI system along with ECU , throttle bodies the works .......i`m tempted but i cant justify the money ...

Only reason NOT to use them is they are a bit old school ....

  4. No - they're super, prob the best carbs ever made IMHO. Need to get the venturi right, tho'.

  5. Yes, they cost a fortune. Around £800 for nos carbs and complete kit. If you have the money though they're well worth it.
    :)

  6. I was thinking of buying CSP linkage and some used Alfa carbs, there must be someone out there who knows the basic settings for conversion then get them finally sorted on a Dyno.m

  7. If you can get the carbs cheap on their own then you just have to get the manifolds and linkages. It's this but combined + the carbs which bumps the price. Having said that I've just managed to do the same with some weber 44idf so all in it cost me £300 so it's doable. If you can get cheap dells send them to the Italian guru for rebuild. Just waiting for a pair to come home for my 1800 and they'll be like new. Is this for your own engine build?
    :)

  9. Here's a typical Dellorto owner. He probably has a 123 dissy and a Berg shifter as well...
