When you feel torn, it's very easy to reach the right decision: write each option down on a piece of paper....scrunch them up....put them in a bowl and ask your partner/kid/significant other to pick one out.... Now here comes the magic....if the option that most concurs with your 'underlying feelings' is drawn, you'll feel OK about it....end of. If the option that (subconsciously) you don't want to do is drawn, you'll feel disappointed.... Trust me, I'm a pub psychologist. If nothing else, the very process of writing it down will help to formulate the best decision....give it a go Trust those underlying feelings
Every time you put up pictures of your crusty van the first thought that comes to mind is "why doesn't he get shot of that millstone that's dragging him down?".
The correct answer , get shut and convert the T25 , do you go camping a lot ? If not get shut of them both as there pointless otherwise.
You're suffering from the Paradox syndrome - when you got the van you had money and vans/parts were cheap. It's all changed now, it's just not possibl;e to have a T2 on the cheap anymore even if you do all the work yourself, the parts as you know have doubled and doubled and doubled again in price.
zed, the camper was bought with missus' student loan so i never had money in the first place. Caravelle could probably sell for £3k so i'd have maybe a grand and a half to 2k to spare after buying something else. No idea what my westy is worth at the moment if i was to sell it. I found myself looking at a Ford Mondeo estate today and not being totally repulsed by it.
I'm sorry I was so blunt, I'm going through a major life re-structuring at the moment and with each old thing I sell or chuck away I cheer up. It's not the money, it's the simplification of life I think - one less thing to look after and maintain. When I was a youth I managed to be almost possession free and I like that. Anyone wanna buy 3 laser sailing dinghies and a tandem trailer? This stuff is slowly crushing me.
Yes, I've seen your repairs. Sticks, scaffold poles and a lump hammer? Sometimes though, parts must be bought? I have a normal car, but am going to sell it and buy a Transit van. Lots of moving to do this year.
